Wireless FS One, Simply Put it in a Bind
“Wireless” is a hot button word being used everywhere with all kinds of convenience items in our daily lives. So Hangar 9 and Spektrum teamed up at Horizon Hobby, Inc. to bring you a wireless interface adapter for the FS One flight simulator. If you are one of the many people flying the DSM or DSM2 radios from Spektrum or JR you would only expect to be able to use your transmitter with the Hangar 9 FS One simulator and do it wireless. Now you can.
Spektrum’s new wireless interface is easy to use with FS One so I thought I would outline the process for you. If you are a Spektrum or JR DSM radio owner you have become familiar with the need to bind the transmitter with the receiver and now the same simple process is also necessary with this wireless interface. The step by step follows:
- In your Spektrum or JR transmitter select the model that you want to use from the model memory, then turn it off.
- With your computer turned on, make sure that FS One (the program) is not running.
- While pushing the bind button on the Spektrum FS One wireless adapter, plug the interface into the FS One adapter. When connected properly the LED in the adapter will begin blinking indicating it is in bind mode.
- Press and hold the Bind Button on the DSM transmitter then turn on the power switch. The LED will flash for a few seconds and the system will complete the bind. The LED on the wireless adapter will no longer be flashing.
- At this point the bind process is complete, however you will have to re-calibrate the transmitter settings in FS One. Boot up FS One and select the JR 8103 transmitter then follow the on-screen instructions. When finished you are ready to fly.
This will complete the bind process and you can begin flying the model of your choice in Hangar 9’s FS One simulator. Using your own transmitter will allow you to use the various features available in the Spektrum or JR transmitter such as dual rates, sub trims, travel adjustments, mixes and more. With a DSM2 transmitter when you change the model memory selection in your transmitter you must repeat the bind process. Please note that surface Spektrum systems do not work with the wireless interface.
Have fun with FS One and be sure to do it wireless. Thanks to Hangar 9 and Spektrum.
